Background

I recently watched 8 A.M. metro which was a pick made by my movie partner between 8 A.M. Metro and Inglourious Basterds. And it took us almost 3 days to finish it (due to circumstances not that the movie was bad). I now take those breaks optimistically although the chances of forgetting or breaking the rhythm of the movie can occur which I too believe in, but not having much of anything going on in life and not too long of breaks the movie went on impacting me slowing during the breaks. Its lines or to say its unique approach to almost everything was something new that escaped it from falling in telescoping effect.

I finished it yesterday (which doesn’t align with this article’s published day) and sure has earned its own place in my heart. The movie travelled from “if a respectable women (Story in my English book written by Kate Chopin) was a film” to making me remember the line from my article about cinema: “You give cinema a valuable portion of your patience, you give cinema a true unbiased mind, you give a chance for it to show/tell/convey whatever it wants and promise to accept it with open arms and Cinema gives you lessons, laughs, and emotions. It changes things in you that could take even years to change if you were taught”. It was one of the finest and most unique movies I have experienced. And here comes the WHY?.

Review

First Scene Of The Movie

The movie started with Iravati (female lead) telling about the story of two boats at night and no doubt it was conveying something deep but it didn’t make much of an impact then. It then goes to her life’s normal morning scene that conveyed her calmness and humour. As the movie goes on we explore her fear towards travelling in trains due to a tragedy she had to suffer. The movie was no doubt a bit different to a level to which it can be criticized from the beginning as it seems as a lazy work.

Picture of Encountering Preetam

It follows an awkward meet with Preetam (Male lead) where the slow progression of the movie along with their talks and walks is what the movie mostly covers. It also covered a parallel story of her sister with its own twists. Something that I specially can tell you is that It no doubt seemed as a movie that wasn’t well crafted from the beginning. The movie of course fuels confusion and doesn’t let us know what it wants to be until the end. It tries to hit us with a plot of infidelity that seems to contain cheap acting, dialogues where the poem too sounded good but it didn’t make sense. Where preetam seems suspicious without a reason for his persuasion. And iravati seems to be distant from her marriage. But who would have guessed that the climax would make everything sensible.

Climax Scene Of The Movie

The climax was like a polaroid that made every aspect of the movie lie on the same plane where it seemed actually understandable on what was hidden throughout the story. It talks about profound ideas and themes the story around human lifes. It’s filled with talks and a lot of questions that it left open to viewers to think upon. It tells about the journey of two souls who feel lost in their life (Iravati with her contemporary relation in marriage, childhood incident and Preetam with his incident) and let them fill each other with understanding and perspectives in life.

Scene Of The Movie

It lets Preetam live a life he lost and Iravati see a life she isn’t valuing. The story talks about their struggles and what happiness is about. It ends exactly where it needed to be.(which doesn’t have much of a time in the movie but it contains a huge role in the story). It ended where it started from, with both of them getting back in their life like they never existed except for themselves.

Conclusion

Poster Of the Novel 8 A.M. is based on

At the end 8 A.M. metro is a great choice if you give it the patience and devotion like every movie deserves. A unique and beautiful story progresses that almost fits being criticised until you experience its climax and then it makes you want to rewatch it again for sure. A big thank you to all the people for making the film including every helping hands behind it and of course to the writer who wrote it’s original novel ‘Andamina Jeevitam’. (What a fantastic piece your book should be, that it inspired such a great movie.)

P.S: Something I suspect (I haven’t read the novel) in 8 A.M metro is about how it can be strictly following the story in its novel due to which it makes a unique cinematography/experience to its viewers when it was converted into a movie.
