Introduction
'Hi, I am Toran' is a reflective practice piece created for my Media Production 101 class at Kathmandu University School of Arts.
This film is a recreation of October 5, 2024—a pivotal day that began with an internship interview at Project LOUD and evolved into a journey of self-reflection and growth. In this version, I’ve updated the color grading and subtitle styling to better capture the mood and the "recreated" memory.
The film uses a specific constraint: you only hear my side of a kitchen conversation while I cook. This project was a "technical sandbox"—a space defined by academic rules and deadlines that challenged me to find intimacy and meaning within strict boundaries. It’s a snapshot of a filmmaker in training, learning the rules before I find my own way to break them.

Conclusion:
This is the first movie I made with rules, but also with a foundation of cinematic knowledge. I hope the improvements from that knowledge outweigh any shortcomings that occurred due to restrictions. This movie and this article stand as me acknowledging my work as a student, even if it is based on predetermined rules. It is also about me overcoming the fear of whether the movie is 'good enough' or worrying about the wrong audience's opinion. It is about being a storyteller who loves his art and doesn’t let ego/vain come between his sacred relation with his dharma.
