So, let’s talk about our existence and the fact that there are millions of planets, or shall I say freaking giant rocks, floating in nothingness and playing their individual role in the universe. Another is also that we are in one of those, and our planet’s existence is unimportant. It actually doesn’t matter if Earth or its intra-climate systems have their patterns correctly or not. It’s not going to change any history because ‘history’ on its own will vanish.
Contradictingly, Earth is everything to us. This planet is currently the only planet in the universe where we can exist. And that makes Earth’s health and existence the most crucial thing for no one but us. Here comes the most satirical part, the majority of notions that I have heard about this point are all a joke. ‘Save Earth’—hello, Earth never told us it needed saving. ‘Save Tree’—a tree never told us it needed saving. I believe all of these slogans implies a narcissistic meaning of how doing it is something extra. The truth and the most straightforward slogan is, “HUMANS, SAVE YOURSELF.” Earth isn’t a being, it’s a rock with its own system where the simple law of action and reaction is existing. If we destroy trees, we will bear the consequences, that’s all.
Human history is really interesting, where at first glance you are optimistic about development and great advances we have made for ourselves, but the person that turns the pages hidden, the truth is things are getting worse. ACTUAL things are getting worse, quality of life is ruined, natural resources are ruined, and as a comedian said, “How is war still legal in 2025?”
So, I guess climate change, or why Earth’s existence is so important, has been so complicated that it’s still a worldwide issue. Just as we are social beings, we also need a natural environment to grow normally. Where humanity is the villain, we are the ones destroying everything we touch. The dream of a harmonious co-existence with nature where each person can freely live is impossible for someone like me living in Kathmandu.
Durability of products now is an option, nothing lasts long. And even worse, our gadgets are rarely recycled. The phone, no matter how big the camera or how many features there are, won’t last even a good 7 years. And the cost and load of manufacturing new products is on our credit cards, where to make our phones cheaper, they exploit mining. That's the harsh truth of everything. Everything from our cereal to our car, in at least one step of its manufacture, use, or recycle, exploits and worsens our environment.
And that's why being mindful is needed now more than ever, from saving yourself from doom scrolling to being a responsible human being as long as you breathe. We need to remember neither the trees nor the Earth needs saving, the only thing that needs saving is our existence. Being eco-friendly is a duty, which I don't know why the government doesn't enforce on us as they make us pay taxes. I believe we as humans should stop being a joker and contribute/fight for what's actually important rather than trying to protect non-necessary borders of ideas.
In conclusion, I believe as I said before, our existence is the only thing in line to destruction. We all need to understand why proper use of resources and saving nature means saving us. And how being a human means having a heart that beats not only to keep us but our planet happy. That’s why I believe this stigma of thinking of nature conservation as a niche topic for activists/politicians is a disastrous perspective.
