Introduction
I am not a critic.
I had wanted to watch Piku for a long time. I don’t have any appealing influence to watch piku despite being recommended along with lunchbox. It just attracted me randomly. So, early around 4 a.m in the morning (yeah anything for movies) I started to watch it although I had watched the trailer the previous night.
And Piku is wonderful. I loved it and I am proud that I was able to encounter this movie. Piku wasn’t only critically acclaimed but also was a hit which is rare with the cinema containing lessons for slice of life according to me.
It’s unique camera cuts and approach to philosophy although I don’t think the movie have prioritised philosophy extensibility as in Masaan ( read my review ). It’s colourful, clean and that sweet background music still had an impact on me and it is still playing over and over again in my mind.
So, here are my reasons on why I loved it.

Cinematography
I misunderstood that piku would run as calm and slowly as lunchbox or masaan did but its approach towards storytelling was quite impactful, effective and lovely.
Color:The concept of bright colors and choice of dress attracted me. The combinations of colors also made an impact on my views.
Camera cuts: Piku is quite a fast running movie. It made me run along with it where I personally feel that it didn’t give me time to think over but the cutting of scenes without much of a break gives a guide for the viewer to tell when a story is directing or impactful scenes by slowing the pace of the movie.
The clever setting around the main characters to show their habits and character. The motion of the camera during the moments shared by Rana and Piku was really good. Also the running of various aspects together was done simply and wonderfully.
Acting
I believe this movie is a benchmark for acting. It comprises wonderful actors such as Irrfan khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone as main actors. Along with very skilled other characters too.I loved the acting by everyone.
Deepika did a wonderful job with being Piku and also was convincing as a young, brave and empowered lady with attraction towards Irrfan later in the movie. Moments of her tiredness and her expression towards Irrfan were wonderful. Her character really coped as Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter.
Amitabh Bachchan’s character as a conscious, angry man and a man without any filters was really nice. He resembles old people and their psychology in old age.His dialogues with irrfan were really fun!.
Irrfan is a legendary actor. Irrfan’s character was really loved by me. His patience and involvement with the Banerjee family was lovely. His expressive eyes and facial expressions were really good.
Acting by other actors was also spended and was appreciated by me.
Mixture
Despite my common approach, piku is a harmonic mixture of various elements such as parenthood, love, music and responsibility. The responsibility of piku from her father to her love interest rana was a justifiable mixture reflecting herself. Nothing feels odd.
The use of less music than the traditional approach but the addition of lovely songs along the movie contributed to vivid storytelling was liked by me.
And the choice of multilingual dialogues were also connecting for the characters buildup. The love towards each other along with the parallel story was nicely done.
Dialogues
Pinku is very well written. Its dialogues never bore me. Story consists largely of bowel movements. Dialogues by Amitabh Bachchan established his character from the beginning. Along with deepika. Where Rana’s character slowly becomes clear along the journey and his stay. Even the slightest of conversations were interesting and lovely. Piku really had good conversations.
Conclusion
I really liked piku where its simple story didn’t load up viewer's minds. The acting by the actors was great. Its fast cuts didn’t bore us and its dialogues were great. I found Piku like a feel good movie with life long teachings and harm-warming work by actors.
